What a Weekend

This past Friday the girls and I flew to California to visit with my family. The reason for this visit was to share in the festivities of my parents mission farewell. On Friday night we had the traditional Taco Salad for dinner and such a wonderful visit with all of my siblings. We were given a Treasure Box that my dad had made and then was filled with the best "booty" ever. We got our family history all that my mother has done which is a ton. Each of my parents wrote out their life story and we got those. Also my parents had put all of our old Super8 movies on to DVD and over Christmas Chris did the same for the older VHS movies. So we have our family movie collection. My sister worked very hard with my mom to gather all of my grandma's recipes and put them in spiral bound book called Grandma's Bananas. It was the best gift that any one could have given. This truly is a Treasure. On Saturday night there was a huge and I mean HUGE Bar B Q at in my parents back yard. I really could not tell you how many wonderful people came, but lets just say you could barley move around. Once again all of my siblings were there. Chris was able to come up from his schooling in Dublin CA. It was nice to see him. On Sunday my parents spoke in church. It was so great to hear how they came to the decision to serve a mission for the Lord. They each have such a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and are so excited to serve his children. I love my parents very much. I am so close to them it will be hard to not just call them when every little thing happens, but I know that they are doing a great and marvelous work.
Here is a little about their mission.
Who: Doug and Cindy Simmons
What: A 23 month Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints working in the Mission office and with members.
When: Entering the MTC on June 9th
Where: Novosibirsk Siberia Russia.
