Well what a day. It was off for the first field trip of the year. The excitement filled the room. Plastic bags were waiting to be filled with the very special pumpkin that they could call their own. So at 9:30am we lined up and loaded the bus. Makhail was very adamant that I not be with her on this trip. So I was to find a different group to hang out with. However The teacher had me sit with her on the bus. It was quite the eventful ride. This bus driver had a lead foot. And for the first time we were all taught that if she yelled "BRACE" we were to put our hands together at our foreheads and lean against the seat in front of us. There was at least one time I thought that we would have to use this tactic. However we arrived safely and unloaded the bus. I got that look from Makhail that very loudly said "Do not walk with me." So I walked away. It is the funniest thing to have your child not want to be with you. However by the time we made it through the corn maze it was a whole different story. She hugged my arm and said that she loved me. How sweet.
We had all the kids go to the playground and run and run and run. I am hoping that this will help them to fall asleep tonight. This field trip was 3 first grade classes. What a bunch of energy. Know for the best part of the trip. At the end the kids are allowed to pick one pumpkin from the $1.50 bin. This is the most exciting and the most frustrating time. Some want the green ones, others must have a long stem, while still others must have one that is perfectly round. My all the choices. I thought some were going to just start crying from the brain work that was going on. Makhail seemed to find hers very quickly. What a relief. Two boys decided that they wanted the same one, so one held on to the pumpkin part while the other held on to the stem for dear life. I was able to talk one into another kind that had a fat stem on it. He walked away with a big grin on his face. Almost like he won the prize. After
they all had their special pumpkin put into there plastic bags the class had a class picture taken. What a fun time. We then all loaded up back on the bus and headed back to school. It was another fun filled ride full of turns and bumps. The kids thought it was the best ride. I however would have liked to drive my own car. Back at school the kids talked about their trip and started to write a class story. They also drew a picture of their favorite part the pumpkin patch. And you will never believe this but Makhails favorite part was me. How fun and wonderful.

Oh, how fun! I loved to hear about the pumpkin choices & how each child wanted a specific characteristic to their pumpkin. Way to negotiate a happy ending for those two boys as well! Love ya!
