Memories

Today I worked in my tiny back yard and mowed the quaint little lawn and watered the plants. And I got thinking.... How I love my dad's ponds. The one in the back has the great shade of the large tree and the beautiful flowers along the deck that my mom plants every year. The pond in the front is full of action, not just the fish but the people too. My kids love to walk over the little bridge and into the forest of just a few trees. As I was sitting at my little table on my brick patio, I decided to take a look at a very special book that was put together by my sister Shannon. She entitled it Grandma's Bananas. It is a cook book of all the recipes that she could find that belonged to my mom, Elene (a very close family friend) and my Grandma Kupfer. It feels as if I have been transported back in time when I see their hand writing. I close my eyes and I can see me with each one of them in their own kitchens teaching my something about cooking. I can smell the Bar B Q Beef, the Egg souffle, and the Barbie Doll cake. I love and treasure these memories. I hope that my children, one day will be able to have wonderful memories of loved ones in their kitchens.
