Let Freedom Ring

What a day. My thoughts are running wild. It started out just wonderful. I woke up to see the flag in my yard. What a beautiful sight. So strong. We didn't do much until the end of the day. Sara went to a friends house and Chris and I worked around the house. Mak played the Wii. Then the fun began. We had ribs for dinner. They were so messy all I could think about was all the times we went to Texas West and enjoyed the mess there. Chris made his famous potato salad and we thought of you Mom. I tried for the first time to make coleslaw. It turned out okay. The girls loved it. For dessert we had chocolate chip cookies. Can you get any more American that that. Well I did one more thing. Instead of an apple pie I made an apple cobbler. What a feast. As we ate I asked everyone for a freedom that they were thankful for. Out of the mouths of babes. Mak said Missionaries. I then got to explain how that fit with the freedom of religion. I have such a love for our country. It is a wonderful place to be from. I feel that it is in a little bit of turmoil right now and we are trying to get it back in order.

After it was dark we went out to the street and did the fire works. It brought back wonderful memories of July when I was a child and also the past ones with my little family. I love the smell of the smoke. I get to tell stories of my childhood. One of my favorites is when my Grandpa Simmons nailed a flower firework to the board and when it was lit how it came off and when under the neighbors car. Scary but what a memory. Sara and Mak had some kids over to enjoy or little show. It is fun to see how my girls have grown up. They are willing to share all they have. Even their sparklers.

What a country.
