Memorial Day

What a day of remembrance. It was a beautiful day here in Utah. They weather was perfect. We spent the day together as a family. (something others in this world do not have) I had many thoughts about this country and the blessings that I have been given. I remembered a trip my family took when I was a child to Washington D.C. and the things that we saw there. One of my most vivid and moving feelings is of the Vietnam Memorial. I had tears come to my eyes and remembered the somber yet grateful feeling I had there. I think of my Grandpa Simmons and the stories I have been told about his service. I think of the stories of my own Father and how he was able not to go to war but was willing if need be. Then my thoughts flow to my wonderful husband. The man that I love and support. He has served over seas and came home safe to us. He serves is country honorably and with great integrity. He does this not for himself and maybe he doesn't see it this way but I feel that he does it for me and our children, because he loves this country and wants it to be a good place for the rest of his generations to come. I want him to know how much I love him and thank him for all that he does for us and this great land that we live in. While I was having all of these thoughts came over me, we had our own little family BBQ. Nothing fancy just a time to be together. We ate outside and and hot dogs and burgers. Potato Salad courtesy of Chris, corn on the cob, and cool aid. And for dessert we enjoyed smores and home made snow cones.
What a family. What freedoms. What a Country!

Lovely day. You guys are a sweet family. Thanks to my favorite son-in-law for his love and service to us and to our country. We are so grateful to you, Chris, and all of your fellow soldiers who are why we are able to live the wonderful way we do. We left a message for you so I hope you got it. We love you all.
